Connecting With Our Shared History

Connecting With Our Shared History

This May, as part of South Australia’s History Month, Trinity Church Adelaide invites you to step inside, hear our story, and reflect on the faithful decisions that continue to shape our community. Join us for guided tours, a special historical talk, and a chance to celebrate the work of God across generations.

Every May, South Australia’s History Festival invites communities to reflect on the people, places, and stories that have shaped our state. In 2025, the Festival’s theme, ‘Decisions,’ invites us to consider how moments of conviction and faith have left a lasting impact.

Trinity Church Adelaide is once again participating in the Festival, opening its doors to welcome visitors from across the city and beyond, and to share how faithful decisions made nearly two centuries ago continue to influence both the life of the city and the life of our churches. Through guided tours and a special historical talk, we will explore not just the history of a building, but the story of a gospel-centered community whose foundations endure.

As members of the Trinity Network, this history is our inheritance. The story of Trinity Church Adelaide is not only a record of the past — it remains a living testimony that shapes and strengthens our churches today.

Exploring Our Story: Guided Tours

This May, we invite you to step inside Trinity Church Adelaide and experience the story of a community shaped by prayerful decisions and gospel hope. As part of South Australia’s History Festival, we are offering guided tours and a display of historical items that trace the life of our church and its place in the growth of Christian faith in Adelaide.

Guided tours will run every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday throughout May, between 10am and 2pm, by request. Come and explore the building’s architecture, uncover historical artefacts, and reflect on the enduring impact of a story that continues today. Bookings are essential and can be made by phone (08 8213 7300) or email (adelaide@trinity.church).

This is a rare opportunity to experience Trinity Church Adelaide with guided insight — bringing to life the people, moments, and gospel convictions that have shaped both our community and the development of Christian witness in our city.

Outside of May, the church building remains open for viewing and self-guided tours from Monday to Thursday, 10am to 2pm. Guided tours for groups can also be arranged on request.

Exploring Our Beginnings: SA History Month Talk

We are pleased to begin History Month with a special talk at Trinity Church Adelaide. Dr Brian Dickey, a retired lecturer in history from Flinders University and a long-term member of our 9am gathering at Trinity Church Adelaide, will speak on ‘Trinity’s First Church Plant: Trinity Church 1836–1843.’

The morning will offer an opportunity to enjoy fellowship over morning tea, share in prayer, and hear Dr Dickey’s reflections on the early years of Trinity Church Adelaide. As the archivist and historian of Holy Trinity Church, he brings unique insight into the early decisions that shaped our mission and continue to influence our churches today.

We warmly invite members from across our churches to be part of this occasion — a valuable opportunity to reflect on our shared story, deepen connections, and give thanks for God’s faithfulness across the generations.

The event will take place on Thursday 1 May, in the Parish Hall at Trinity Church Adelaide, from 10am.

As we take time this May to explore the story of Trinity Church Adelaide, we are reminded of God’s faithfulness across the generations. Through faithful decisions, prayer, and gospel hope, His work has continued, and we trust He will continue to strengthen the witness of His people in the years ahead.

For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
