Running The Race At 100

Running The Race At 100

If you visit Trinity Church Woodcroft, there’s a good chance Colin Wilson will be the one greeting you at the door. Colin loves serving on our welcoming team – helping people of all ages feel at home on a Sunday morning.

What’s remarkable is that in February we joined with many others in celebrating Colin reaching 100 years of age!

Colin and his wife, Roma, joined Trinity Church Woodcroft when we launched 7 years ago. Colin wanted to be at a local, Bible teaching church that would be easy for Roma to get to if he wasn’t around – not unreasonable planning when you are 93.

We are so thankful that not only are they still around, but they are also active and much loved members of our church family.

Colin still plays golf each week, as picked up on various TV news reports.

“It has been wonderful to be part of this church. I’m looking forward to the next 100 years,” Colin shared.

When asked if he had any wisdom for us, his answer was simple and deeply grounding: “I’m thankful for how we are always brought back to the love of Jesus, because that’s all you really need. That’s what it’s all about.”

Not one to rest on his laurels, Colin is sharing his wisdom at our next men’s event on ‘Running (or walking!) the Race’, reflecting on Hebrews 12:1-2.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.

Hebrews 12:1-2

All of us at Trinity Church Woodcroft wish Colin, Roma, and their family a joyful birthday and every blessing for his second century!
