Trinity Church Adelaide recently brought the story of Jesus to life through two performances of The Mark Drama—a powerful, stripped-back retelling of the Gospel of Mark. The event was for everyone, but there was a thoughtful effort to make it welcoming for those who don’t yet know Jesus—creating space to hear His story through Scripture.
The Mark Drama is a 90-minute theatre-in-the-round presentation, performed without props, costumes, or staging. What makes it so striking is that it uses almost every word from Mark’s gospel, helping the audience not just hear the story, but feel drawn into it. It’s raw and simple, yet deeply moving—and for many, a different way to engage with the person and work of Jesus.
At Trinity Church Adelaide, this initiative formed part of their 2025 Ministry Vision: encouraging every member to read Mark’s gospel one-to-one with someone in an evangelistic context. The two performances drew a combined crowd of over 230 people—96 on Saturday and 135 on Monday—many of whom were visitors or people beginning to explore faith.
The Mark Drama was brought to life by a team of committed volunteers who gave their time to rehearse, plan, and serve. Scene by scene, they helped create an experience that pointed people to the heart of the gospel and the person of Christ.
Earlier this year, Trinity Church Modbury also presented The Mark Drama, inviting their local community to experience the story of Jesus in the same faithful and creative format. Their aim, too, was to create opportunities for others to encounter Jesus through His Word. It’s encouraging to see churches across the Trinity Network stepping forward with the shared conviction that the gospel is worth hearing, and worth sharing—clearly, personally, and with confidence in God’s power to work through His Word.

To everyone who prayed, invited someone, took part in the cast, or helped bring the event together—thank you. These moments are a reminder that God uses His people in many different ways, and that every church has a part to play in the mission of making Jesus known. Let’s keep praying for those who received a copy of Mark’s Gospel—that they would read it, reflect on it, and come to know Jesus. And for all who heard the gospel, let’s ask that God would keep stirring their hearts and bring lasting fruit through His Word.
