Act justly, love mercy, walk humbly with your God. On Base Camp 2025 (March 21-23), 65 youth and 22 leaders from Trinity Church Adelaide, Campbelltown, Golden Grove, Lockleys, Modbury and Para Hills got together to have unreasonable amounts of fun and to dive deep into God’s word in the book of Micah.
We had an incredible time with Ben Goddard (Ministry Apprentice at Trinity Church Modbury) as he opened Micah for us and helped us to see the big problem of sin, the bigger saviour from Bethlehem, and the big life God has for us to live today. Ben did a phenomenal job of connecting with youth on his ninth Base Camp – not only in his teaching, but in his care and love for the youth as he shared life with us. He helped us to see how we are called to more.
In our third year at Woodhouse, we continued the fun and games with Challenge Hill, tube slides, climbing, labyrinths, nerf wars, and getting to the bottom of a mystery to do with leaders being animals.
Camps serve as such a wonderful time for youth and leaders alike to live in Christian community, and they have an exponential effect in relationship growth. I can’t help but think of youth camps as an equivalent to the festivals of God’s people outlined in the scriptures; we feast together, we sing together, we live in community all around God’s word, before returning to our homes, schools and places of work to live out the calling God has placed on our lives. Thank you to our leaders, to our cooks, and to Ben for handling God’s word faithfully.
